In summer and autumn, many go for mushrooms. However, picking mushrooms should be approached with extreme caution, since mushrooms are a rather dangerous product. As a rule, novice mushroom pickers cannot always figure out which chanterelles grow in the forest. Mushroom lovers are advised to know the main differences between false chanterelles and ordinary ones.
Rule 1
The first thing you should pay attention to is the color of the hat. In a false chanterelle, the cap can be orange or reddish. In the central part, the color of the cap is darker than on the edges. Another important difference is the velvety coating of the mushroom. You can check this by touching the hat. The real chanterelle has a uniform bright yellow color.
Rule 2
Mushrooms are also recognized by their cap shape. The false chanterelle has an even cap, the diameter of which depends on the age of the fungus and can reach 5 centimeters. Sometimes a small depression is observed in the middle of the head of the false chanterelle.
As for a real chanterelle, its cap always has wavy edges and is bent down along the edge. Due to its irregular shape, the mushroom looks unusual.
Rule 3
If you are not completely sure when choosing a mushroom, then it is worth checking its pulp. First, the false chanterelle always smells unpleasant. Secondly, the pulp of the mushroom is yellow and absolutely tasteless, and does not change color with strong pressure.
The flesh of a real chanterelle has a pleasant smell; on a longitudinal cut, the mushroom is white. When pressed on the pulp, it turns reddish. The flesh tastes slightly sour.
