Mushroom pickers love to collect chanterelles. This is understandable, because a bright orange mushroom is never wormy, it grows in clearings, and dishes from it are unusually fragrant and tasty. But this joy can be spoiled by false chanterelles, which often end up in the baskets of inexperienced mushroom pickers. Therefore, before going into the forest, you need to learn how to distinguish these similar mushrooms.
Instructions
Step 1
First of all, you need to remember that real chanterelles grow in groups, as they have a common mycelium, so a lonely mushroom should alert you. And false red doubles can grow alone, and even on fallen trees, like honey agarics. But this is not the main distinguishing feature of these mushrooms.
Step 2
Pay attention to the caps of the mushrooms found. Real chanterelles, especially adults, always have a wavy edge. Sometimes the cap is even very much twisted. And the false mushroom has smooth, rounded edges.
Step 3
See how the mushrooms are colored. The color of the real chanterelle is yellow-orange, and the false one has a bright, defiant orange-red tint.
Step 4
Look at the leg. A real chanterelle has a thick leg, even of an uneven shape, not hollow inside. And the false one, on the contrary, has a thin leg, although inside it is also not hollow.
Step 5
Break both mushrooms. You will see that the flesh of a real chanterelle is white with a yellow tint around the edges, slightly reddening when pressed. A false chanterelle has a yellow flesh that does not change color when pressed.
Step 6
Smell the mushrooms. The smell of a real chanterelle is very fragrant, incomparable with any mushroom. And the false double smells bad.
Look at the controversy. The spores of the real chanterelle are yellowish, while those of the false chanterelle are white.
Step 7
And finally, if you see that the mushroom you find is wormy, you can confidently throw it away. Before you is a false chanterelle, since the real one emits chitinmatosis, under the influence of which the larvae of the flies die. False counterparts do not have this substance.
Step 8
When picking mushrooms, adhere to the golden rule, according to which, if you are in doubt whether a good or bad mushroom is in front of you, always throw it away, and it is better not to cut it at all.
