It is difficult to imagine a normal human diet without sugar and salt - these two substances make the taste of food more expressive and bright. However, nutritionists do not get tired of talking about the dangers of sugar and salt, calling them "white poison", which negatively affects the body. At the same time, many cannot decide which of these substances is the most harmful.
Sugar
The rapidly digestible carbohydrate sucrose is quickly broken down after entering the digestive tract into fructose and glucose, which then enter the bloodstream and act as a universal source of nutrition for the brain and the entire human body. However, despite all the benefits of sugar, its use is accompanied by certain "side effects" - so, first of all, sugar increases the acidity in the mouth, which leads to the development of pathogenic bacteria that cause tooth decay. If calcium and B vitamins are not involved in the process of its assimilation, complications of the nervous, cardiovascular and digestive systems may occur.
For many people, the main disadvantage of sugar is its calorie content, which leads to excess weight.
In addition, excessive consumption of sugar and products with it, provokes the development of acne, psoriasis, acne and other skin diseases, and also leads to non-insulin-dependent type of diabetes mellitus (II). An excess of glucose overloads the pancreas, leading to obesity, and can lead to dehydration if not drinking enough water, as sugar makes you thirsty.
Salt
Salt or sodium chloride ensures the normal functioning of the body by maintaining the balance of minerals and the chemical composition of the blood, as well as stimulating and inhibiting nerve and muscle cells. At the same time, salt abuse leads to fluid retention in the kidneys and body tissues, the appearance of edema and urolithiasis, an increase in intraocular, intracranial and blood pressure, as well as the deposition of salts in the joints.
The recommended salt intake rate should be no more than 8-10 grams per day.
Thus, sugar can be called more harmful - and not only because of the greater number of complications. It is present in a wider range of foods, tastes very good and is even addictive, resulting in widespread consumption. To avoid the health problems that salt and sugar can cause, you should drink plenty of water and green tea to flush your kidneys, and minimize your intake of soda, chocolate, fast food, chips, snacks and other popular modern foods that are oversaturated with "white poison."
