The main ingredients of the classic herring recipe under a fur coat have always been boiled vegetables, fish fillets and a large amount of mayonnaise. Each housewife has her own recipe for this dish, it may include: apples, boiled eggs, cheese, herbs, etc. We will cook herring under a fur coat following the classic version.
It is necessary
- onions - 2 pcs;
- potatoes - 4 pcs;
- large salted herring - 2 pcs;
- egg yolks - 4 pcs;
- carrots - 3 pcs;
- beets - 2 pcs;
- mayonnaise.
Instructions
Step 1
Wash and boil the beets, carrots and beets in the skins until tender. While the vegetables are boiling, cut the fish into fillets, remove the bones and skin, cut into small cubes.
Step 2
Moisten the bottom of a plate or dish with water where the salad will be laid out. Spread out the herring in an even layer. Thinly chop the peeled onion, scald it with boiling water, squeeze lightly and put on top of the fish.
Step 3
Lay a thick layer of mayonnaise on top. Cut the boiled potatoes into squares and place them as the next layer. Draw a fine mesh of mayonnaise.
Step 4
Grate beets and carrots on a coarse grater, distribute them on the grid in an even layer. Form the last vegetable layer with beets covered with mayonnaise. If desired, chop the boiled yolks on top of the salad, decorate the dish with sprigs of herbs or carrot and beetroot roses.
Step 5
After cooking, it is better to place the herring under a fur coat in the refrigerator for impregnation for several hours. Do not forget to cover it with a lid or cling film on top. Before serving, it can be cut into pieces, just like cake or jellied meat.
