It turns out that some fruits from our daily diet are considered poisonous. Fatalities are quite rare, since most of them, if properly processed, do not pose any harm. However, some fruits should still be treated with caution.
Poisonous fruit
The poison in fruits is mainly found in the seeds. For example, such a poisonous substance as cyanide is present in small quantities in the pits of peach, plum, cherry and apricot. If you accidentally eat 1-2 seeds of these berries, there will be no harm to your health. However, when ingested in large quantities, hydrogen cyanide can cause many problems.
With a mild degree of poisoning, symptoms such as nausea, disorientation, vomiting, dizziness, anxiety, and headache are possible. If the poisoning has progressed to a more severe stage, a person's blood pressure may rise, the heart rhythm may be disturbed, and breathing will become difficult. In some cases, even death is possible.
Apples are absolutely safe for humans, but apple seeds also contain cyanide. But its dose here is much less than, for example, in peach or cherry pits. Therefore, only when consuming a large amount of apple seeds can harm your health.
Poisonous fruits, or rather the seeds in them, do not pose a particular threat. The thing is that the adult human body is able to fight cyanide if its dose is small. But for children, cyanide is very dangerous even in trace amounts. The child's body may simply not be able to cope with such loads. The same goes for animals.
What poisonous fruits still exist
Speaking of poisonous fruits, it is worth mentioning poisonous vegetables, which are often included in the human diet.
A green tomato is considered a vegetable in some countries, a fruit in others, and a berry in still others. In any case, in whatever country the tomato grows, its leaves and stems contain glycoalkaloid. This substance is highly toxic. Poisoning with it can be accompanied by symptoms such as indigestion, severe headache, nervousness. The content of glycoalkaloid in tomatoes is extremely small, so they do not pose a significant danger.
The plant whose fruit is considered poisonous is asparagus. As a rule, the stalks of the asparagus are not used for cooking. The fruit is the top sprout of the plant. It is quite often used by culinary experts in the preparation of exquisite dishes. Red berries are also poisonous on the plant. They are very small, but if swallowed, they are very dangerous to humans.
