In order to appreciate how truly amazing, nutritious and spicy food is in Mexico, you need to dine at their restaurant at least once. The most famous dish is chili. In Mexico, chili is prepared in two ways. The first and most famous is chili con carne (cooked with meat). Another way is chili sin carne (cooked without meat, but with the addition of eggplant).
Chile con carne
Chili con carne is a hearty dish as it is made from meat. Chili is a stew made from beans, meat and chili peppers. This dish tastes pungent. There are a huge number of varieties of chili peppers that differ in their pungency, so when making chili con carne, it is better to take several varieties and choose them from the available options.
Traditionally, Mexicans use only beef in this dish, but a combination of beef and pork is also acceptable. The meat can be taken both in the form of minced meat and in small pieces. It is not necessary to grind the meat too much, since during the stewing process the meat can spoil the consistency of the dish. It is also not recommended to take ready-made minced meat from the store, as it is very finely chopped and may be fatter than necessary.
Beans make the dish more satisfying. Canned beans can be used. So the chili will be cooked much faster, only you first need to drain the water and rinse it from excess salt.
In Mexico, spices for making chili con carne are sold on every corner. In addition to chili pepper, the spices also include coriander, cumin and others. Some recipes also use cinnamon and even chocolate.
Chili is served with sour cream and finely grated cheese, as well as wheat or corn tortillas.
Chili con carne recipe
Chili con carne is a more satisfying version of chili. The ingredients for the preparation of this dish are: 1 kilogram of minced meat (preferably beef), 300 grams of red beans, 3 onions, 4 large tomatoes, 2 sweet red peppers, 2 chili peppers, about half a liter of meat broth, ground black pepper, 5 cloves of garlic, 5 tablespoons of sunflower oil, salt to taste.
First of all, you need to soak the beans overnight, and in the morning you can boil them until tender. In a preheated frying pan, fry the minced meat (or pieces of meat) a little.
While the meat is roasting, it is necessary to prepare the vegetables: wash and cut the tomatoes (after peeling them off the skin), sweet pepper; peel and chop the chili peppers; cut the onion into rings.
After that, the vegetables must be put to the meat and simmer all this over low heat for 15 minutes. After that, pour the meat broth into the pan, salt, pepper and put the beans, cook all this over low heat for another 20 minutes. When the dish is almost ready, sprinkle with finely chopped garlic.
