Parents whose children have tasted a single slice of crisps at least once know how difficult it is to explain to a child that this is unhealthy food, the abuse of which leads to health problems.

Indeed, a huge amount of starch, flour, flavor and odor enhancers, color stabilizers, frying in not the freshest oil lead to diseases of the liver, stomach, intestines, the formation of cholesterol plaques, diabetes, obesity and other unpleasant diseases. But how to explain this to a child who has gotten into the taste and takes offense at “irresponsible” parents who refuse to buy a “delicacy”?

There are not so many options for solving the problem: either categorically prohibit the child and all household members from using this product, enduring whims and tantrums, or preparing chips on their own, keeping peace and quiet in the family. Do-it-yourself chips are not much different from store-bought ones - thin, crunchy, with various additives, selected according to the individual taste of ordering a delicacy, but at the same time they are completely harmless and incredibly tasty.

These homemade chips will be appreciated not only by children, but also by adults: you can prepare a spicy crispy snack for them, unlike the children's version. But the main difference between this delicacy and purchased chips is that they do not need to be fried in oil and abundantly flavored with artificial flavors.

To prepare homemade chips, you will need Armenian thin lavash, preferably from unleavened, unleavened dough. You can buy lavash ready-made, you can bake it yourself - in any case, only water, flour, salt and a little vegetable oil should be included in its composition.

Lavash is spread on the work surface, greased with olive or vegetable oil, sprinkled with salt and spices. If the chips are prepared for children, it is best to use dried herbs that they like, but you should not add hot spices like pepper. Chips intended for adults can also be spicy - due to various types of ground pepper, saffron, and garlic. The same spices also affect the appearance of the delicacy: saffron gives a golden color, paprika - orange-red.

Using a knife or kitchen scissors, a sheet of prepared lavash is cut into strips, each strip into squares or rhombuses. The slices are carefully placed on a baking sheet, sprinkled with finely grated cheese and placed in an oven preheated to 180-200 degrees. As soon as the cheese begins to melt, remove the chips and pour into the prepared plate.

You should be extremely careful not to leave the chips unattended - the lavash dries very quickly, depending on the power of the oven, the cooking time can vary from 2 to 5 minutes. It is recommended not to dry the pita bread for too long - the cheese will acquire a bitter taste, and the edges of the chips may burn.
