Stuffed cabbage is a very tasty dish, but it takes quite a long time to cook. For lovers of this dish, who do not have enough time to cook, there is an alternative option - "lazy cabbage rolls". They take less time to prepare, and they are also less demanding on your culinary skills.
For cooking you will need:
- Minced meat 400-500 g (preferably pork or pork + beef).
- Half small cabbage (400g.)
- Medium onion
- Medium carrots
- Rice 150g. (preferably round grain)
- Vegetable oil
- Tomato paste 100g.
- Table salt
- Greens 1 bunch
- Garlic 3 cloves
Recipe
First of all, cut the onion into half rings, it can be even smaller, rub the carrots on a fine grater and pour all this into a hot pan with vegetable oil and add a little salt. Fry all this over high heat, about 5 minutes. Then add the chopped cabbage and fry for another 10 minutes.
While the cabbage is stewing, you need to prepare the rice. If the rice is not clean, then you need to sort it out of various debris. After that, it is good to rinse it in cold water several times so that during cooking it does not stick together into a homogeneous mass.
Cook rice in plenty of water for 10 minutes after boiling over low heat and be sure to add salt. Then we put it back in a colander and rinse with cold running water. Leave in a colander for 5 minutes to drain the water.
To cool the vegetables faster, pour them into a bowl from a hot skillet. We add cold rice to them and mix. Thanks to this trick in a cold bowl of cold rice, we don't have to wait long. Add minced meat, salt, ground black pepper to taste to a bowl, you can add seasoning for meat or minced meat and mix everything very thoroughly.
If the mass turns out to be crumbly, then a chicken egg and a tablespoon with a heap of flour will come to our aid. If you add these ingredients, they will bind the mass perfectly.
The mass can fall apart if you put wet rice in it or coarsely chop cabbage for frying.
We sculpt oval cutlets from the mass, immediately put in a preheated pan with vegetable oil. Frying on both sides is not necessary, when 5 minutes have passed, pour tomato paste diluted in a glass of water into the pan. If the liquid does not cover the cabbage rolls, add the required amount of water.
Simmer them under the lid for 20 minutes and at the end add finely chopped herbs and garlic squeezed through a garlic press or chop finely with a knife. Then simmer for another 2 minutes under the lid so that the garlic gives off the aroma and the pungency is gone.
That's all, lazy cabbage rolls are ready, you can set the table.
