Want to cook delicious cabbage rolls, but don't have time? There is a way out: lazy cabbage rolls are in no way inferior to their classic counterparts in taste, but they take no more than half an hour to cook.
It is necessary
- A small head of cabbage;
- 1 kg of minced meat;
- 3 large onions;
- 1 cup (250 g) rice
- 1 egg;
- 400 g sour cream;
- 2 tablespoons of salt;
- and some spices to taste.
Instructions
Step 1
First, boil the rice. Pour 1 cup of boiling water over it, wait until it boils, and keep on low heat for 7 minutes. The groats should be half-cooked.
Step 2
Cook the minced meat and mix it with the rice.
Step 3
Beat 1 raw egg into the minced meat and mix thoroughly.
Step 4
Add 1 tablespoon of salt and a quarter teaspoon of black pepper. You can add some nutmeg if you like.
Step 5
Peel and dice the onion. The best piece size for such a dish is 1-2 cm. However, if you wish, it is quite possible to cut the onion into half rings.
Step 6
Chop the cabbage, then mix it with the onion.
Step 7
Now it remains to put the ingredients of the future stuffed cabbage in the pan. Put a layer of cabbage on the bottom, brush it with 4-5 tablespoons of sour cream and put a layer of minced meat on top.
Step 8
Make the second, third and so on layers in the same way. Depending on their thickness and the volume of the pan, it can turn out from 3 to 6 layers.
Step 9
Put the cabbage in the topmost layer and add a few more tablespoons of sour cream on top.
Step 10
Boil 2 cups of water (500 g), dilute 1 tablespoon of salt in it and gently pour this liquid over the cabbage.
Step 11
Bring to a boil and, covered with a tight lid, simmer over low heat for 20 minutes. If the water boils off earlier, you can add half a glass more: rice absorbs a lot of liquid. You can eat lazy cabbage rolls both hot and cold. If you wish, you can add a little sour cream, red pepper and grated horseradish to the plate.
