Stevia is a sweet herb from South American Paraguay, an alternative to conventional sugar producers. In its leaves, substances were found that, in terms of the degree of sweetness, exceed sugar by 300 times, besides, stevia has practically no calories and does not cause caries.
Instructions
Step 1
Stevia literally burst into the sugar substitute market and immediately became the subject of interest of a large number of consumers. And this is not unusual. Until now, people who, due to health conditions or for some other reason, refused to consume sugar, were offered a choice: either to say goodbye to the sweet taste forever, or to switch to chemical sweeteners, which are by no means useful at all. This went on for many years, until the nondescript herb Stevia, or rather its derivatives, reached Europe.
Step 2
Stevia has been known in its homeland for more than 500 years; even Indian tribes believed that it contained healing powers. Currently, the sugar substitute Stevia is used by more than 150 million people worldwide. A very small amount is enough to make foods sweet. And not only does it have such a small amount of calories in its composition that it can simply be neglected, but some scientists also argue that it can have a beneficial effect on blood pressure. And as for blood sugar, it not only does not increase it, but supposedly even helps to lower it. It is only natural that such a seemingly wonderful product immediately gained such immense popularity.
Step 3
But if not too early to rejoice, then it should be done, at least with great caution. First, any product must be researched in every possible way. And if the usual chemical sweeteners have already been included in the list of products that contribute to the oncology, then Stevia has simply not yet been fully studied. Who knows, maybe in a few years there will be studies that will significantly reduce the enthusiasm for this sugar substitute. They are not yet available, and some caution should be exercised in terms of its consumption.
Step 4
Plus, Stevia is a natural product. From the point of view of benefits, this may be good, but we must not forget about allergy sufferers, whose body can react quite violently to an ingredient that has not been previously known in the composition of a sweet or drink.
Step 5
And, if the potential carcinogenicity and allergies seem far-fetched, then the fact that the Indians used Stevia as a means of protection for men is quite well documented in historical documents. Therefore, if a man is not interested in reducing the quality of his sperm, he should beware of this sweet novelty, so that later he does not have to bitterly regret the effect received from the use.
