    • butter - 100 g;
    • poppy seeds - 1/2 cup;
    • sour cream - 2/3 cup;
    • soda - 1/2 teaspoon;
    • egg for lubrication - 1 pc.

Step 1

Prepare poppy seeds for baking. To do this, rinse it thoroughly in hot water. Then pour boiling water over and let it brew for 15-20 minutes. Then drain the water through cheesecloth. Sprinkle the poppy seeds on a plate in a thin layer and let dry.

Step 2

Remove the butter from the refrigerator and let it soften at room temperature. Instead of butter, you can use 100 g of baking margarine.

Step 3

In a glass or enamel cup, gently mix butter, warm sour cream, sugar, vanillin, dried poppy seeds with a wooden spatula until smooth. Leave some poppy seeds to sprinkle on top of the biscuits.

Add slaked soda to the foods. Soda is extinguished using various food vinegars or lemon juice. If you use vinegar essence, dilute it 10 times with water before adding it to the baking soda. Put half a teaspoon of baking soda in a glass and add a few drops (up to ½ teaspoon) of the selected acid. Mix well.

Add flour gradually, one glass at a time. While the dough is liquid, it needs to be kneaded with a wooden spatula. Then it is better to knead the dough by hand. Add flour until the dough stops sticking to your hands. No more than two glasses. Put the finished dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes, covering the dish with a towel.

Sprinkle a little flour on the table and roll out the chilled dough to a thickness of 5-10 millimeters.

Using a special curly shape or a thin-walled glass, cut the biscuits from the dough. Collect the remaining dough from curly cutting in a lump, roll it out again and cut out the biscuits. From the rest of the dough, make a biscuit with your hands.

Sprinkle a baking sheet with flour and place the biscuits on it with a distance of 1 cm from each other.

In a cup, beat the egg with a fork until smooth. Brush the top of the biscuits with an egg and sprinkle with the remaining poppy seeds. You do not need to grease the biscuits with an egg, then press the poppy sprinkled on top a little with your hand.

Bake the biscuits in a preheated oven at 200 degrees for 8-15 minutes.
