If you are bored with traditional pies, biscuits and muffins, be sure to bake a poppy seed cake: its taste is fresh and original, and the cooking process is not particularly complicated.
Ingredients:
- Poppy - 150 g;
- Vanilla sugar - 1 pack;
- Baking powder - 10 g;
- 20 percent sour cream - 0.5 kg;
- Flour of the highest grade;
- Creamy margarine - 150 g;
- Chicken eggs - 3 pcs;
- Leaf gelatin - 10 g;
- Sugar - 1 tbsp.
Preparation
- We soften the margarine at room conditions. When the product is slightly melted, mix it with granulated sugar (at this stage, we take only 3/4 cup).
- We drive in eggs. Add the vanilla sugar along with the baking powder and then beat vigorously with a whisk.
- Place the poppy seeds and knead until smooth. We add flour quite a bit, the consistency of the dough should be close to the density of thick sour cream.
- Line the baking sheet with a layer of foil. We lay the poppy dough and smooth it out gently. The cake will have to be baked for 15 to 25 minutes (depending on the characteristics of the oven) at 180 degrees.
- You can test the degree of readiness of the cake in the old fashioned way - with a match: if the tip comes out dry, the base for the cake can be removed from the oven and set aside until it cools without removing it from the mold.
- Moving on to the creamy layer. Beat the sour cream well with the rest of the sugar. Separately prepare the gelatin, fill it with water according to the instructions and let it swell (with a leafy product, there is less trouble - there is no need to boil it).
- Combine sweet sour cream with gelatin. Beat with a whisk and pour on the surface of the chilled cake. We put the cake in the refrigerator for 4 hours.
- After the creamy layer has thickened and hardened, the foil can be carefully removed.
The cake must be kept cold at all times, otherwise the layer will melt. It is recommended to decorate the cake with fresh fruit.
