First, take and rinse the potatoes well, peel them and cut them into thin slices. Place the potato slices in a bowl and cover with cold water to rinse off the starch.

Cut the onion into half rings. Take a skillet, melt the butter and sauté over low heat for 3-5 minutes.

Drain the water, dry the potatoes and add them to the onions. Stir constantly and heat until steam starts to rise from the pan. This means the potatoes are hot enough.

Transfer the potatoes and onions to a baking dish and cover with the broth. Add bay leaf, thyme, pepper and salt to taste.
Step 5
Place in an oven preheated to 180 degrees and bake the potatoes until the broth is completely absorbed into the potatoes, about 1-1.10 hours.
Step 6
Remove the potatoes, sprinkle with cheese and put in the oven for 5-7 minutes. You will get a golden brown crust.
