Since Soviet times, the "Winter" salad has become a favorite of the festive table in Russia. By mistake, he is often called "Olivier". Although he has a very distant relationship to the true recipe of this French dish. The classic "Winter" salad is quite simple to prepare, hearty, tender and very tasty.

To prepare the "Winter" salad according to the classic recipe, you will need:

- mayonnaise - 400 g;

- potatoes - 8 medium-sized tubers;

- carrots - 4 pcs. medium size;

- chicken egg - 6 pcs.;

- boiled sausage - 0.5 kg;

- canned peas - 1 can;

- pickled or pickled cucumbers - 5-7 pcs. (depends on the size of the cucumber);

- green onions - 1 bunch;

- dill - 1 bunch;

- pepper and salt to taste.

Sausage in a salad can be replaced with crab meat, boiled beef, ham, chicken breast. This deviation from the classic recipe will not spoil the dish at all, but, on the contrary, will give it more satiety and piquancy in taste.

Salad preparation

Wash the potatoes, carrots and cook in their skins. Cool and peel. Cook the eggs hard-boiled and also free from the shell.

In a large enameled container (basin, saucepan), cut the sausage into small cubes, finely chop the cucumbers and eggs. You can also grind the eggs into fine crumbs in a deep bowl with a fork. Add finely chopped potatoes to the ingredients, grate the carrots on a coarse grater.

Open the jar of peas and carefully drain all the water. Send the peas to the pan with the rest of the products. Salt and pepper everything, mix thoroughly.

The output of the finished product will turn out to be quite large. Therefore, so that the salad does not sour and spoil, season it with mayonnaise, herbs and onions in parts, just before serving. And keep the rest of the unfilled part in the refrigerator.
