Nowadays, it is not so easy to find real fresh honey. Stores and markets are full of counterfeits. These tips will help you distinguish natural honey from regular flavored sugar syrup.
Instructions
Step 1
Taste honey first. Natural honey is very sweet, tart and does not spread in the mouth immediately, but retains its shape for some time. If honey spreads in the mouth, then it is diluted with water or it is a simple sugar syrup with dyes and flavors.
Step 2
Take a close look at the color of the honey. Real honey should be transparent, without sediment, and a pleasant yellow color. If the honey is cloudy, then it contains sugar and starch.
Step 3
Estimate honey for viscosity, because natural honey should be viscous. Take a spoonful of honey from the jar and you will see a continuous thin thread of honey. After the honey thread breaks, it should drop to the surface in a small hill. If honey is not real, then it will drip abundantly to the surface.
Step 4
To find out if honey contains water or sugar, you need to drop the honey on a blank sheet of paper. If the honey is spreading or seeping through the paper, it means that the honey is diluted.
Step 5
Dip a slice of fresh bread in honey and let sit for 10-15 minutes. If the honey is real, the bread will harden, otherwise the honey will be unnatural.
Step 6
Try to buy honey in familiar and proven places in reserve.
