Content of the excise stamp

All alcoholic goods that are imported into Russia are marked with an excise stamp intended for labeling alcohol-containing liquids. These excise marks were introduced into circulation in 1994 and today have the established shape, appearance and size of 90 by 26 millimeters.

In fact, the decoding of the excise tax is not required. All information on the stamp is written in Russian and has a completely understandable content. For example, on excise stamps for alcohol, there may be such inscriptions as "Alcoholic products from 9 to 25 percent", "Alcoholic products from 25 percent", "Wines", "Sparkling wines", "Natural wines".

Excise stamp is a fiscal document, i.e. testifying to the payment of a fee established in the country for the sale of any type of goods.

On excise stamps with the written text "Alcohol products from 25 percent" there is also an inscription indicating the maximum volume of a bottle intended for the sale of this type of alcohol. It is located next to the excise tax number. This inscription can be presented in the following form: "up to 100 grams", "up to half a liter", "up to one liter", "more than 1 liter". On brands intended for drinks with a lower percentage of alcohol, there is no indication of the maximum container volume.

On a mandatory basis, excise stamps bear such inscriptions as "Excise stamp" and "Russian Federation", they indicate that the goods have been registered, and the manufacturer or importer has paid the established fees.

Excise taxes in Russia are imposed on alcohol, tobacco-containing cigarettes, previously there were stamps for sugar, makhorka and even pepper.

Excise stamp color

New types of excise stamps are issued in different shades. Excise stamps for drinks with the lowest alcohol content are designed in red and gray colors. Alcoholic products with the highest percentage of alcohol are orange-pink in color. Green-lilac colors are used for excise wines. Sparkling wines have a yellow-green hue of the brand.

The excise stamp also has a 13-digit barcode. They have their own meaning, which characterizes the manufacturer, importer and receiver of the lot on the territory of the country. Countries supplying alcoholic beverages have their own serial numbers, which are applied at the very beginning of the barcode.

Numbers are printed next to the barcode indicating the original excise tax number. They are printed using inkjet printing. All numbers are arranged in order, and their location depends on the volume of the container and the percentage of alcohol in different types of alcoholic products.

Excise stamps are made of self-adhesive paper. For the application of inscriptions, a special paint is used that does not fade or smudge, moreover, it has a specific glow, which changes color depending on the angle of inclination. This is to avoid counterfeiting.
