Pita are tortillas that are baked as an alternative to sandwiches. You can put absolutely any filling in them. First, such a cake is greased with some kind of sauce, and then a cutlet or chicken, vegetables, herbs, etc. are placed inside.

Pita tastes like an ordinary homemade lavash. The stuffed cake can be given to the child to school or taken to the office. Making Pita at home is pretty easy. However, there are some tricks to know.

Products

For baking "Pita" you need the following ingredients:

  • flour - 350 g;
  • lean oil - 2 tbsp / l;
  • salt - 1 tsp / l;
  • boiling water - 200 g.

How to bake

To prepare Pita, add salt to a glass of hot water. Pour flour into a bowl. Pour the salted water into the flour and add the vegetable oil.

Knead the dough first with a spoon and then with your hands. Place the dough in a container, cover with a lid or plastic wrap and leave on the table to rest for 10 minutes.

Divide the dough into 8 pieces and roll each into a ball. Sprinkle flour or butter on the table.

It is important that the dough does not stick to the work surface during the rolling process. The cake should not break under the rolling pin. Otherwise, when frying, air will come out of it and the pocket will not work.

Roll the first ball into a cake about 16 cm in diameter and 3-4 mm thick. Try to make the cake completely round. In this case, the pocket itself will come out neat and it will be easy to fill it with filling.

Heat the skillet without oil. Place the tortilla in a skillet and bake until lightly browned. Flip the cake over to the other side and wait until browned.

Turn the Pita over again. At this moment, the circle of dough will delaminate in front of your eyes and begin to swell like a ball. After about 20 seconds, turn the cake over again and hold it in a skillet for a while. The cake should "deflate".

Remove the Pita from the pan and trim off one side of the pan to reveal a pocket. Fry and trim the remaining cakes in the same way.

What kind of filling can be made

Do not overdo it with the sauce, stuffing Pita. Otherwise, the cake may get wet. If you want to take such a sandwich with you to work, you should not use the sauce at all. The filling for "Pita" can be prepared, for example, from the following ingredients (into two flat cakes, cut in half):

  • chicken - 150 g;
  • bulgarian pepper - 1 small;
  • cucumber - 1 small;
  • garlic (optional) - 1 clove;
  • egg - 1 pc;
  • salad - 4 leaves;
  • lemon juice - 10 ml;
  • sour cream or mayonnaise - 60 ml;
  • vegetable oil, salt, pepper.

Cut the chicken into thin slices. Beat each plate lightly and rub with pepper and salt. Fry the chicken in a skillet until browned. Cut ready-made chops into strips.

Cut the pepper into thin rings. Chop the cucumber into strips. Combine the chicken slices. Boil a hard-boiled egg and peel. Stir the yolk with sour cream. Add lemon juice to the yolk.

Cut the protein into thin slices and add together with the yolk to the chicken. Season everything with sour cream. Place a leaf of lettuce inside each Pita. Fill the tortillas with the filling.
