Not so long ago, a new law on the sale of alcoholic beverages was passed in Russia. It prohibits the sale of any alcoholic beverages at night. In this regard, disputes have arisen over whether non-alcoholic beer is considered a product called alcoholic.
What does the term "beer" mean?
To understand whether non-alcoholic beer is an alcoholic product, one should define a beverage such as beer. Based on the article of the law on the control of the turnover and production of ethyl alcohol or any alcoholic products, as well as on the control of the use of these products (which, by the way, does not talk about the classification of beer into "non-alcoholic" and "alcoholic"), you can read that beer is an alcoholic product that includes ethyl alcohol formed during the fermentation of beer wort produced by brewing malt.
Also, the beer contains hops, water, brewer's yeast, aromatic and flavoring additives.
Apparently, in this article, beer is a finished alcoholic product, which contains no more than 0.5 percent ethyl alcohol. And non-alcoholic beer is beer with an alcohol content of less than 0.5 percent. And they produce it by removing ethyl alcohol from the finished alcohol-containing product. From all of the above, we can conclude: since non-alcoholic beer contains less than 0.5 percent ethyl alcohol, then, by definition, such a drink is not an alcoholic product.
However, based on the same definition, such a drink cannot be called beer.
And yet, manufacturers call this drink beer, and, therefore, from the general definition of beer, non-alcoholic beer can be considered an alcoholic product.
In some stores, non-alcoholic beer can be bought even at night, since the sellers emphasize that there is no alcohol in such a drink. If these stores have decided not to classify non-alcoholic beer as alcohol-containing products, it is sometimes sold even to children. It turns out that a child who has not reached the age of majority can go there and buy any amount of non-alcoholic beer. Such a situation is categorically dangerous, because even 0.5% alcohol in each can can lead to serious consequences if you drink more than one can of beer, but several.
The effect of non-alcoholic beer on the human body
When consumed in small quantities, about 0.5 liters per day, beer acts as a source of trace elements and vitamins. It contains such useful substances as proteins, saccharides, bioenergetic elements. But due to the misconception that beer is not exactly an alcoholic beverage, in recent days it has become significantly abused. Due to such an irresponsible attitude towards this drink, some people develop a beer addiction. In this case, non-alcoholic beer can act as an alternative to drinking alcoholic beverages. It contains all the nutrients and a small amount of ethyl alcohol.
Scientists from Japan have proven that beer improves the body's defenses against radioactive radiation. It was found that after 0.5 liters of drunk light beer, the amount of chromosomal damage resulting from X-ray irradiation decreases by 34%. This is due to the combination of biologically active substances contained in the drink with alcohol.
