In red currants or compote cooked from it, you can not deny yourself even in winter. The berries just need to be frozen to preserve all the vitamins.

It is necessary

  • - Red currants;
  • - clean and dry plastic dishes;
  • - colander;
  • - a package for freezing.

Instructions

Step 1

Red currants ripen in late June - early July, and therefore the freezing of berries for the winter occurs at this time. Berries must be picked with brushes. It is best to use small scissors to cut the tassels that will fall into the cup provided.

Step 2

Do not wash the harvested red currants, otherwise they will wrinkle. The only exception is the currant, which has been treated from parasites with a large number of "chemicals". It is better to rinse such a berry through a colander, and then dry it by sprinkling it on a towel.

Step 3

Next, remove the berries from the brushes. You can, of course, freeze it entirely, but in the future it will not be convenient at all for making fruit drinks or compote - the brushes in the water will lag behind the berries and float.

Step 4

Preparing a package for freezing. You can take special packages that are sold. They are very dense, decorated with fruits, but quite expensive. It is easier to use zip bags or regular packing bags.

Step 5

It is necessary to spread the berry evenly into the bag so that it turns out in "layers". Then the bag should be closed and placed in the freezer. Another option is to freeze the berries for 3-4 hours on a tray and then simply pour them into the bag.

Step 6

Freezing red currants is a quick process. Ready frozen berries will be in 6-7 hours, and they can be stored in the freezer for up to two years.
