When cooking corn, the shell of the grains is not broken. After cooking, it retains its beneficial properties.
Corn grains have a positive effect on the human body. Each part of the plant contains nutrients - grains, leaves, ears, and even fibers. But when eating it, you should be careful. People who are underweight should not eat corn dishes - it reduces appetite and is more suitable for diets. With caution and in small doses, you can eat grains with increased blood clotting. It is not recommended to eat it for those who suffer from peptic ulcer disease - the product can cause bloating.
How to cook corn
To cook corn in a pot, it is best to choose young cobs. They must first be cleaned, washed, and can be soaked in water for about one hour. Those cobs that do not fit in the pan must be cut into pieces. It is better to choose cookware with a thick bottom.
Put the prepared corn in a saucepan and cover with water. It should completely cover the product. Turn on high heat and bring water to a boil, then reduce heat a little.
Cooking time for corn is 20 minutes after boiling for young and 40 for mature. Add salt to the pan 5 minutes until the product is completely cooked. To determine it, you can taste the grains. Several kernels can be separated from the cob with a fork. If they are soft, you can turn off the heat under the pan, cover it with a lid and let the corn settle. This will give the beans more juiciness and softness. You can also eat it immediately after cooking - in this case, the cobs are laid out on a plate and the water is allowed to drain a little.
To make boiled corn tastier, sprinkle with grains of salt. You can flavor food with butter.
Boiled corn can be used on its own or served as a side dish. If young cobs are selected for cooking, you need to monitor them more closely. There is a risk of digesting the grains - they will turn out to be tough, while the taste is reduced.
