It is necessary

  • - chickpeas - 150-200 grams
  • - drinking water - 500-600 ml
  • - glass or ceramic container
  • - freshly squeezed lemon juice or citric acid

Instructions

Step 1

You can germinate ordinary chickpeas intended for cooking. But it is better to buy a special chickpea for germination, such peas are slightly smaller in size, which means that it will germinate much faster. Rinse the chickpeas under running water, filter out bad peas. Place it in a glass, ceramic container (you can also in a plastic container). Pour water over the peas so that the liquid is 2-3 times more than the chickpeas. Cover and leave in a dark place at 20-22 degrees Celsius for 8-12 hours.

Step 2

After 3-4 hours, you can see how the chickpeas have increased in size. At this time, you can rinse it under water and refill the chickpeas so that the water completely covers the peas. Leave the chickpeas to stand for another 4-8 hours at room temperature, completely submerged in water.

Step 3

When 12 hours have passed, rinse the chickpeas again. If the sprouts are still not visible, then rinse the chickpeas again with acidified water, leave some water at the bottom, cover the chickpeas with a lid (or damp gauze) and leave for another 12 hours under the same conditions. If the sprouts hatch poorly, then it is better to rinse the chickpeas with water every 3-4 hours so that the peas do not start to deteriorate and sour.

Step 4

If you germinate chickpeas intended for germination, then in 24-30 hours it will germinate. If you take larger chickpea peas, then the process can take 2-2.5 days. In the latter case, until the sprouts hatch, it is important to follow the process of rinsing with acidified water every 4-6 hours so that the chickpeas do not start to deteriorate. When sprouts of 3-6 mm hatch, the chickpeas are ready to eat.
