Boiled rice is perhaps the most versatile side dish, as it goes well with meat, fish and vegetable dishes. However, it is possible to achieve a truly excellent taste in the finished product only with proper preparation and a competent combination of seasonings and spices.
How to achieve friability?
Every housewife wants the rice to be crumbly, and not to resemble a paste in its structure. That is why rice must be thoroughly rinsed to remove starch and talc before cooking. The fact is that before getting on store shelves, cereals undergo a special treatment, which consists in glazing with talcum powder or starch. Rinse the rice until the cloudy water is completely clear. When preparing cereals, you must observe the correct ratio of water and rice (1 glass of rice requires 2 glasses of water).
If you plan to toss rice into boiling water, then you don't need to put a lid on the pot. If you put rice to cook at the same time as water, then cover the pan with a lid. When the water begins to boil, the fire must be reduced to a minimum. For round grain rice, a closed type of cooking is preferable, while for long grain rice, on the contrary, cooking with an open lid is more suitable.
In order for the rice for the side dish to turn out to be crumbly, in no case should it be interfered with. If you are afraid that the rice will cook unevenly, you can make small holes with a spoon. Seasonings and spices should be added only after boiling water. Salt the dish only after cooking.
How to make rice taste and appetizing?
If you want to give the garnish a more appetizing look, then when the water boils, you can add half a teaspoon of turmeric. Thanks to this seasoning, the grains will acquire a rich wheat color, which perfectly awakens the appetite.
You can improve the taste of rice with garlic, dried barberry and oriental spice - cumin. The easiest way to diversify the flavor of your garnish is to add an all-purpose condiment that you can buy at any grocery store.
