Green beans are a low-calorie product, but very healthy. To enjoy it all year round, you can freeze asparagus in several ways.
Green beans (asparagus) are healthy, and at the same time low-calorie product. It contains fiber, trace elements and vitamins necessary for the human body. Asparagus is added to salads, soups and main courses are made from it. Typically, asparagus contains more vitamins if it was grown on its own land or was purchased from farmers. What is sold in supermarkets is not of great value to the body, therefore, during the season, bean pods are used to make preparations for the winter.
How to properly freeze asparagus
In order to have such a healthy and tasty product at hand all year round, you can freeze it. This can be done in two ways:
- freeze in natural (raw) form
freeze boiled asparagus
In both cases, it is necessary to properly process the pods so that they do not stick to each other and have the desired length.
Freezing raw asparagus beans
The procedure should begin with processing the pods. Each stem must be cut from the stem and the tip. They do this so that after defrosting the asparagus does not spoil the finished dish, because they themselves are very tough.
After that, the pods are washed with plenty of water and allowed to dry. You can put the asparagus in a colander, but it's best to place it on a towel or special kitchen napkins. After the green beans are completely dry, cut them in portions. Usually in the preparation of salads and main courses, slices of 1, 5-2 centimeters are enough. It should be noted that long pods take up more space in the refrigerator.
Then the asparagus is laid out in pre-prepared plastic bags, from which the air is removed. You can also store it in plastic containers.
Freezing boiled green beans
Bean pods are cut to taste, boiled in salted water for 5 minutes. Then they are thrown in a colander and allowed to cool completely and dry. To avoid sticking the stalks together, it is best to dry the asparagus on a towel. After the green beans are dry and cool, you need to prepare the container for freezing. These can be special packages or containers. Next, you should transfer the prepared asparagus to the container and put it in the freezer.
Each freezing method is good in its own way, and any housewife understands which one is better to choose. However, it should be noted that green beans are most logged at their peak of maturity. If the stems are overripe, they will be low in vitamins and minerals. In addition, the asparagus will be very tough.
