Frozen green beans can be an excellent source of vitamins at a time when it is not possible to obtain them from fresh beans. If you take care of its preparation in advance, you can significantly save on purchasing ready-made vegetables in the supermarket, especially since freezing is quite simple.
It is necessary
-
- Plastic packaging bags;
- black Eyed Peas.
Instructions
Step 1
In order to freeze beans, you should take care of the starting material. Green beans will be tasty if they are harvested at the stage of milk ripeness. At this time, the pod can be easily pierced with a fingernail, the beans themselves are juicy and do not have a hard shell. If the collection time is missed, then even freezing the beans will not help to make the beans more tender.
Step 2
At the finished pods, cut off the stalks on which they were attached to the bush, and then rinse them repeatedly under running water. This must be done especially carefully, since if ripe beans fall under at least one rain during growth, then the presence of earth on the pods is inevitable.
Step 3
Transfer the well-washed pods to a colander, or place them on cheesecloth or any other cloth spread out on the table so that excess water can drain from the beans. If this is not done, then when frozen, the pods will freeze to each other and become like a piece of ice.
Step 4
Cut the pods into slices of the length you want to see in the finished dish. Most often, for a vegetable stew, pieces are enough, whose length does not exceed 2-3 cm. In addition, in this size, vegetables take up much less space in the freezer than if they are laid out as a whole.
Step 5
Place the beans in a plastic bag and remove any excess air. After that, all that remains is to immerse the bag in the freezer. Plastic containers with lids can be used instead of bags. The shorter the path between harvesting the beans and harvesting them, the more vitamins it retains.
