Oatmeal is considered one of the healthiest for children and adults. It contains a lot of protein, vegetable fats and minerals. Usually oatmeal is made from cereals, but cereals can also make an excellent nutritious breakfast.
It is necessary
-
- 2 cups oatmeal
- 4 glasses of milk;
- 1 tsp salt;
- 2 tbsp butter.
Instructions
Step 1
Oatmeal porridge can be cooked in whole milk or milk diluted with water. In addition, you can use concentrated, condensed or powdered milk diluted with water, as well as cream. Diet porridge is boiled in plain water without adding milk.
Step 2
Since oatmeal is whole grain, it should be borne in mind that it will swell and cook more slowly in milk than in water. Therefore, it is recommended to pre-boil it in water.
Step 3
Sort the oatmeal, rinse it in several waters and fill it with boiling salted water, leave to swell for 3-5 hours or overnight. You can do without pre-soaking the cereal: pour the sorted and washed oatmeal into boiling water, remove the pan from heat, cover and leave for a while to swell.
Step 4
Throw the swollen groats on a sieve to drain the water. Then put it in boiling milk, add salt and cook for 20-30 minutes over low heat until thickened. Stir the porridge periodically, and do it slowly, as quick stirring slows down the cooking.
Step 5
Add oil to the finished porridge. You can serve it with fruits, raisins, prunes, nuts, etc. Sweet lovers can season the porridge with sugar, cinnamon or jam to their taste.
Step 6
Another way to cook porridge from oatmeal is as follows: soak the cereal in 2-2.5 volumes of hot water, leave for 3-4 hours. Boil the porridge in the same water and put it in a warm place. Oatmeal porridge takes longer to dry out compared to other grains. Season the porridge prepared in this way with butter and cream.
Step 7
Oatmeal porridge can be included in the diet for those looking to lose weight, as it has a high nutritional value and low calorie content due to its low starch content.
