There are many varieties of honey in the world, each of which has its own unique taste and aroma. It is difficult to say which variety is more useful, but it is known that the most expensive honey is obtained in Turkey, in a cave in the Sarikair valley and is called "Elven".
Elven is the most expensive honey in the world. It is mined at a depth of 1,800 meters. A kilogram of this honey costs $ 6800 or € 5000.
The enormous value of this type of honey is due to the fact that it is produced naturally. In 2009, the hereditary beekeeper Gunay Gunduz noticed that some of the bees flew into the cave. The savvy Turk realized that there could also be honey in the cave, and with the help of professional climbers, he went down there and found 18 kilograms of honey in combs.
The beekeeper handed over the extracted product to a French laboratory, where special tests were carried out, which showed that this honey is seven years old and is rich in various useful minerals.
The first kilogram of truly precious honey was sold in 2009 on the French exchange for € 45,000. A year later, a kilogram of "Elven" honey was sold to China, but the price had already dropped to € 28,000. Now a kilogram of this type of honey costs only € 5,000 and sold in bottles of 170 and 250 grams.
Elven honey is produced naturally and does not contain any artificial additives. The region where the most expensive honey in the world is produced is rich in medicinal plants, which undoubtedly affects the cost of the product.
