Gastritis is a very common stomach disorder. It often develops already in childhood. Without careful attention to your well-being, without the necessary treatment and adherence to a diet, gastritis can lead to serious complications.

The reasons, like the symptoms, of the development of gastritis are varied. An unhealthy diet, bad habits, excessive consumption of coffee on an empty stomach, and frequent stress can cause illness. Typical symptoms of the disease are usually stomach pain, indigestion, nausea, heartburn. In some cases, a sick person may feel dizzy after eating, hunger may cause lightheadedness.

Gastritis involves a certain diet, which is recommended to be followed at least partially, even in situations where the disease does not manifest itself very acutely. What place is given to all kinds of sweets in the context of such a diet? Can you eat sweets if you have gastritis?

Candy and gastritis

Despite the fact that this painful condition does not imply a complete exclusion of all sweets from the human diet, sweets should be treated with extreme caution. This is especially true for chocolates or similar sweets with chocolate elements in them. The daily menu for a patient with gastritis is drawn up exclusively by a doctor. Here, the type of disease plays a huge role: there is gastritis with low acidity, in which case, for example, citrus fruits are not excluded from the diet, but there is gastritis with high acidity, in such a diagnosis, you should forget about any acidic foods. However, in both versions, sweets are almost strictly prohibited.

Why is it not recommended to use sweets for chronic or acute gastritis? The fact is that these sweets contain a huge amount of sugar, there are various flavors, flavoring additives, sometimes ingredients that are quite harmful to human health can be present in sweets. These sweets cause fermentation in the stomach and intestines, irritate the mucous membranes, which can lead to severe indigestion and pain. Chocolate in sweets affects acidity, the production of gastric juice, and in some cases can further aggravate the well-being of a sick person. Products made from caramelized sugar with nuts should be included in the diet with great care.

However, there are still some types of sweets that can be consumed for gastritis. These include various candies and caramels, gummy candies, waffle candies, some types of similar sweets stuffed with jam, fruit puree, preserves or dried fruit. Such options for sweets to a lesser extent exert stress on the stomach, from them there is less risk of a sharp exacerbation of gastritis. But even they are not recommended to get carried away. With gastritis, the use of sweets should take place in the context of certain rules.

How to eat sweets for gastritis

First, you should never lean on sweets - not just sweets - with an empty stomach. It is imperative to eat well, only after that you can complete your meal with a dessert in the form of sweets.

Secondly, such confectionery products must necessarily be washed down with some kind of warm drink. Not very strong black tea, herbal decoction will do. In some cases, if there is no lactose intolerance against the background of gastritis, you can use warm milk.

Thirdly, even lollipops or waffle candies should not be consumed in large quantities. They can be eaten at a time no more than three pieces, while carefully observing their condition.

Fourthly, in moments of acute exacerbation of the disease, it will still be better to completely exclude any kind of candy.

Fifthly, if unpleasant symptoms are observed after eaten sweets, for example, stomach pain, heaviness, heartburn appears, then you should refrain from sweets in the future.
