Honey rings are traditional Christmas baked goods in Malta. It is served during all holidays with tea or coffee. Christmas has already passed with us, but this is not a reason to deny yourself such unusual rings.
It is necessary
- For four rings you need:
- - flour - 200 grams;
- - semolina - 40 grams;
- - water - 50 milliliters;
- - one yolk;
- - butter - 50 grams;
- - sugar.
- For the filling, take:
- - honey - 200 grams;
- - sugar - 80 grams;
- - semolina - 4 spoons;
- - water, cocoa powder - 1 spoon each;
- - grated orange and lemon zest, candied fruits.
Instructions
Step 1
Mix flour, semolina and sugar for the dough. Chop the butter into crumbs, add the yolk, water, knead the dough. Put it in the refrigerator.
Step 2
For the filling, mix all the ingredients, except the semolina, cook over medium heat. Gradually add semolina, cook until thick. Cool it down.
Step 3
Roll out the dough into a rectangular layer, cut into 20x10 strips. Lay the filling along the long side, roll it up, form a ring. Make cuts with a sharp knife.
Step 4
Bake honey rings for half an hour at 180 degrees. Enjoy your tea!
