Vitamin C is essential for all of us for the normal functioning of connective and bone tissue. The body needs it for the normal metabolic process, affects the immune system and is an antioxidant, and a lack of it leads to scurvy. It is found naturally in a variety of fruits and vegetables.
Instructions
Step 1
The Barbados cherry (acerola) is perhaps the most vitamin C-rich plant in the world. The homeland of this berry is South America. Today, acerola is grown in many regions with a tropical climate precisely for the sake of these wonderful fruits with a huge vitamin content, which reaches 3300 mg per 100 grams - ten times more than in oranges. The berries are edible fresh and dried; in many countries they are strongly recommended by doctors in case of a general state of fatigue, infectious and viral diseases. It is known that Bruce Lee consumed this cherry as a dietary supplement. It also contains provitamin A, B vitamins, calcium, phosphorus, iron. Acerola is not a relative of the common cherry - it is a plant from a different family. It does not grow in Russia, it is quite difficult to find it on sale, but there are functional food products where it is contained.
Step 2
Rosehip is a plant of the pink family, of the order of Rosaceae. The content of vitamin C in its berries is about 1000 mg per 100 grams in dry form and about 650 mg in fresh form. In addition to ascorbic acid, this product also contains vitamins B, E, P, K, iron, calcium, potassium salts, phosphorus, magnesium and a number of other useful organic substances. Rosehip is often used for making infusions, juices, decoctions, tea and other drinks. It is best to use berries harvested before the onset of the first cold weather, since low temperatures reduce their beneficial properties.
Step 3
Juniper is an evergreen plant of the cypress family, known since the days of Ancient Rome for its beneficial properties. It is used both in traditional medicine and in traditional pharmacology. The vitamin C content of juniper berries is approximately 270 mg per 100 grams. In general, everything is used for medicinal purposes in this plant - roots, needles, essential oils, however, ascorbic acid is contained precisely in berries, which can be consumed fresh, as well as made from them tinctures and decoctions.
Step 4
Sweet red pepper (bell pepper) is another product with a fairly high content of ascorbic acid (about 250 mg per 100 grams). Green pepper contains less vitamin C - about 200 mg. Sweet peppers also contain vitamins A, B, E, PP, iron, iodine, calcium, potassium, magnesium and many other substances. Red fruits also contain lycopene, a powerful antioxidant that detoxifies the body.
Step 5
The list of foods richest in vitamin C includes (in descending order of this substance in them) principality (arctic raspberry), sea buckthorn, kiwi, black currant, honeysuckle, parsley. But in the notorious lemon, it is only 40 mg per 100 grams. It is also worth considering the absorption of vitamins from different foods, which can be low with a high content.
