In the distant Soviet childhood, such bagels were sold in the bread department of any store. And then this delicious product disappeared from the shelves. Now they sell buns under the guise of bagels, but their taste is not at all the same. It turns out that making real bagels with poppy seeds is no big deal.
It is necessary
- - flour - 4 glasses
- - dry yeast - 2 tsp
- - water - 290 ml
- - salt - 1 tsp
- - sugar - 1 tablespoon
- - vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
- - poppy seeds - 0.5 cups
- - strong tea or warm water - 0.5 cups
Instructions
Step 1
Pour sunflower oil into warm water, add sugar and salt, stir. Gradually add premium general purpose wheat flour mixed with dry instant yeast. Knead the dough and leave it in a warm place for one hour, covered with plastic wrap or a bowl.
Step 2
In the meantime, brew a very strong tea, taking 2 - 3 tsp in 150 ml of water. dry tea leaf.
You will need tea in order to moisten the surface of the bagels in it before baking.
Step 3
Put the resulting slightly tight, porous dough on a lightly floured table and divide into 45 - 48 pieces. Roll each piece of dough into a sausage, roll up into a ring and connect the ends. Dip each bagel into warm strong tea leaves for 2 - 3 seconds so that only one side of the bagels is moistened. Then dip each one in dry poppy seeds. Leave the dough rings on a floured table for 10 to 15 minutes to come up.
Step 4
The bagels should be baked in a hot oven, heating it to 220 - 250 degrees, for 15 minutes. The baking sheet does not need to be oiled, it is enough to dust it with a little flour. It is important that the top of the bagels is dry, not soft.
Remove the ready-made bagels with poppy seeds from the baking sheet, put on a dish, cover with a thick towel.
