Poppy is a classic filling for many types of baked goods. In Russia, they began to use it back in the 11th century and immediately fell in love with it for its unusual taste and delicate texture. It makes bagels very tasty, which are easy to cook at home.
It is necessary
- For the test:
- - 7 gr. dry yeast (2 teaspoons);
- - 175 ml of warm milk;
- - 50 gr. icing sugar;
- - 500 gr. flour;
- - 170 gr. butter;
- - a pinch of salt.
- For filling:
- - 140 gr. icing sugar;
- - 200 ml of hot water;
- - 250 gr. poppy;
- - 1, 5 tsp dried lemon peel;
- - half a teaspoon of vanilla extract.
- Additionally:
- - an egg.
Instructions
Step 1
In a bowl, mix yeast, icing sugar and warm milk.
Step 2
Put butter, flour and salt in another bowl. Pour in a mixture of yeast with sugar and milk.
Step 3
Knead the elastic dough, cover with cling film and put in a warm place for 1 hour.
Step 4
At this time, we are preparing the filling. Mix the powdered sugar with hot water. Once the powdered sugar is dissolved, add the poppy seeds, zest and vanilla extract.
Step 5
Preheat the oven to 175C. Cut the dough into 4 pieces.
Step 6
Roll out the dough into circles with a diameter of about 25 cm. Cut each circle into 8 identical sectors.
Step 7
We spread the filling on each piece of dough and gently roll it into a roll. We leave the rolls with poppy seeds for 10-15 minutes, so that the dough rises a little again.
Step 8
Beat the egg, grease the stuffed rolls so that they turn golden during baking.
Step 9
We send the bagels to the oven for 15-17 minutes.
