Cabbage rolls are a dish of minced meat wrapped in a cabbage leaf. However, children rarely like this option, because few of them favor boiled or baked cabbage. To please the little ones and at the same time take care of their health, you can cook lazy stuffed cabbage rolls.
Those cabbage rolls that do not need to be wrapped in a cabbage leaf are called lazy. The latter is finely crumbled and added in this form directly to the minced meat. Due to this, you do not need to spend a lot of time preparing a dish, and children often simply do not notice the presence of cabbage in such stuffed cabbage, so they eat them with great pleasure.
To create such a dish, you can use any minced meat, but for children it is better to choose the least fatty one. The most tender and healthy stuffed cabbage rolls are obtained from chicken, rabbit mince or turkey. The latter two species, by the way, rarely cause allergies, so they can be introduced into the diet of even the smallest children. You can also use beef.
In addition, it is better to cook lazy cabbage rolls for a child not with white cabbage, but with Peking cabbage. The latter has more delicate leaves that will be almost invisible in the minced meat. However, there are also a lot of vitamins and nutrients in such cabbage.
Peking cabbage improves immunity - it is rich in B vitamins, vitamins A, C, PP, E and K, mineral salts, organic and amino acids.
To prepare lazy cabbage rolls you will need:
- 300 g minced meat;
- 1/3 of a medium head of Peking cabbage;
- 1/3 cup rice;
- onion head;
- carrot;
- salt to taste;
- water or vegetable broth;
- parsley;
- sour cream.
Rinse the rice several times, cover with water and put on fire. When the water boils, season with salt to taste, reduce the heat and cook until tender. Then drain, rinse and let it drain. In the meantime, finely chop the Chinese cabbage leaves. Mix them with minced meat and rice. Add some finely chopped parsley and salt. Mix everything thoroughly, shape the minced meat into oval cutlets and place them in a fireproof dish.
Peel the onions and carrots, cut into half rings and strips, lightly simmer in a frying pan with vegetable oil and put on lazy cabbage rolls in an even layer. Fill everything with hot water so that it covers about half the contents. Lubricate with sour cream and place in an oven preheated to 200 ° C. Bake for 30-40 minutes.
If the children are not too young, you can add a little tomato paste with water or a fresh tomato cut into cubes to the onions and carrots in the pan.
Lazy cabbage rolls can also be cooked on the stove. To do this, the formed cutlets should be tightly placed in a saucepan, slightly salted and poured with hot water or vegetable broth - it should completely cover them. They should also be supplemented with fried onions and carrots, or raw if stuffed cabbage rolls are prepared for very young children who do not want to give fried food. If children do not like carrots and onions, they can also be chopped and put directly into the minced meat. In cabbage rolls, vegetables will be less noticeable.
Then put the saucepan with cabbage rolls on the fire, bring to a boil, reduce the flame and cook for 5-10 minutes, depending on the type of minced meat. It is better to serve such a dish with sour cream if the kids love it. As a side dish for lazy cabbage rolls, you can cook mashed potatoes or boiled rice, which you can immediately cook a little more.
