Honey is part of many delicious dishes. Sbiten, kvass, mead from it are aromatic. Gingerbread and cakes are also notable. This bee product is good not only for sweets. Chicken skin coated with honey and mustard looks very appetizing after baking.
Mead
The beneficial properties and excellent taste of honey have been known for a long time. For several centuries, people have been creating dishes, the recipes of which were passed on by inheritance or by acquaintance. Those who have tasted the famous Suzdal mead will remember its aroma and amazing taste for a long time. The recipe is not lost, it is used now. To prepare this low-alcohol drink, you will need:
- 600 g of honey;
- 4 liters of water;
- 2 tsp dry yeast "Saf-Levyur" (in ancient times, ordinary yeast was used);
- 10 g of hop cones;
- 5 grains of cardamom;
- a quarter tsp. cinnamon and nutmeg.
Pour water into an enamel pot, put it on fire. Bring to a boil, add hop cones, cardamom, cinnamon. Do not heat honey, so more valuable substances will remain in it and harmful ones are not formed. Cool the water a little, put honey in it. Stir well to dissolve. Leave the liquid to cool until warm. After that, pour a glass of the contents into a large mug, put in the tremors and stir thoroughly. Pour this liquid into the dissolved honey.
Cover the pot with a lid and let the mead ferment in a warm place for 5 days. By this time, fluffy foam should have disappeared - a sign of the end of fermentation. Pour the drink into plastic bottles not to the top, cork them with lids and put them in the refrigerator. Here the drink will settle for 4-5 days, after which it can be tasted.
Chak-chak
Why not make an Uzbek chak-chak while waiting for the Suzdal mead to be ready? Other people also liked this Muslim dish. It is also prepared with honey. Here are the foods you need;
- 2, 5 glasses of flour;
- 1 tbsp. vodka;
- 0.5 cups of honey;
- 3 eggs;
- 0.5 cups of sugar;
- salt;
- for decoration - a handful of walnuts.
Depending on the quality of the flour, the size of the eggs, you may need to slightly vary the amount in one direction or the other. Pour flour on the table with a slide, make a depression, put three yolks and two egg whites in it, add salt, pour in vodka. Substitute for tough dough. Roll it into a ball, cover with a towel or flour and let rest for 30 minutes.
After that, knead it again, roll it into a thin cake. Let it dry slightly for 10 minutes. Then it is easier to cut it. Fold the tortilla several times to cut the "pasta" 4 cm long and 1-1.5 cm wide.
Prepare deep fat by pouring oil (preferably olive oil) into a saucepan. Place the dough products in an iron colander, dip it in boiling oil, cook the pasta until lightly browned. Place them on a platter.
Mix sugar with honey, bring to a boil over a fire and immediately pour onto fried strips of dough, stir, sprinkle with ground nuts. Squeeze the chak-chak slightly from the sides with your hands dipped in water.
