Many treat barley with a warning. And completely in vain! Pearl barley porridge contains many vitamins and nutrients. You just need to learn how to cook it correctly and such porridge, especially with meat, will take pride of place on your table.

- • Pork - 300 gr.;
- • Pearl barley - 1 tbsp.;
- • Onion - 1 pc.;
- • Carrots - 1 pc.;
- • Salt - 1 tsp;
- • Allspice - 0.2 tsp;
- • Boiled water - 2, 5 tbsp.
Instructions
Step 1
Rinse the pearl barley and leave to swell in cold water for several hours, preferably overnight. If there is no time for this, then simply increase the cooking time by 30-40 minutes.
Step 2
Cut the pork into large pieces. Heat a saucepan with vegetable oil and fry the meat in it until crusty.
Step 3
While the meat is browning, peel and chop the onion. Peel the carrots and cut into strips. Add vegetables to the meat and fry for about 5-7 minutes more.
Step 4
Drain the pearl barley. Add barley to the saucepan with meat and vegetables.
Pour 2.5 cups of boiled water over the contents of a saucepan and bring to a boil over high heat. Add salt and pepper. Then reduce heat to low, cover the pot and simmer for a little over an hour, until the barley is cooked.
Step 5
Leave the prepared porridge on the stove to simmer for another 15-20 minutes. Fragrant and crumbly pearl barley porridge with meat is ready!
