Great classic British dish!
It is necessary
- - 150 g flour + a little more for sprinkling
- - 1 tsp. salt
- - 250 ml of beer
- - sunflower oil (or water) for deep frying
- - 550 g potatoes, cut into 2.5 cm slices
- - 4x150 g cod fillet
- - zest of 1 lemon + lemon wedges for serving
- - 450 g frozen green peas
- - 3 tbsp. l. low fat sour cream
- - 2 tbsp. l. finely chopped mint
Instructions
Step 1
Pour the flour into a bowl, add 1 teaspoon of salt. Pour the beer into a glass, wait for the foam to settle, and pour in the beer (or water) in a thin stream, stirring constantly. Set the dough aside.
Step 2
Heat oil in a large skillet until very hot. Roast potatoes for 3 minutes, then pat dry with paper towels.
Step 3
Dip the cod in flour and lemon zest, then dip in the batter. Cook in hot oil for 6-8 minutes, then pat dry with paper towels. Set aside and keep warm.
Step 4
Cook the peas in boiling water for 3 minutes. Throw in a colander and chop in a food processor with sour cream and mint.
Step 5
Place the potatoes back in the buttered skillet and cook for another 3 minutes, until crisp. Serve with cod, peas and lemon wedges.
