Honey gingerbread is a great idea for a New Year's dessert. This delicacy can be presented to friends and relatives as a souvenir for the New Year or to decorate a New Year tree with it.

It is necessary

  • - 0.25 glasses of water;
  • - 0.75 cups of honey;
  • - 100 g of butter;
  • - 480 g flour;
  • - 0.5 teaspoons of soda;
  • - 1 egg;
  • - 1 egg yolk;
  • - ground spices (cardamom, cinnamon, coriander, allspice, cloves, nutmeg);
  • - sugar pencils.

Instructions

Step 1

In an enamel saucepan, mix 0.75 cups of honey and 0.25 cups of water, put it on low heat and cook the mixture until thickened. The readiness of the honey syrup can be checked in the following way - pour a small amount of the mixture on a saucer, press it down with a teaspoon, and then sharply lift the spoon up. If the syrup is drawn with a thick thread, it means that it has reached the desired consistency.

Step 2

We filter the finished syrup through a fine strainer, add 100 g of butter to it and let it cool to a temperature of 80 degrees.

While the syrup cools down, set the oven to warm up to 200 degrees.

Step 4

Then mix 480 g of flour with 0.5 tsp of ground spices (cardamom, cinnamon, coriander, allspice, cloves, nutmeg). Next, gently mix the flour with spices into the hot honey syrup using a wooden spoon. Let the resulting mixture cool to room temperature, after which we add 1 egg and 0.5 tsp of soda to it. Mix all ingredients until smooth.

Step 5

Roll the resulting dough for honey gingerbread into a layer about 6-8 cm thick, sprinkle it with flour. Sweep the excess flour with a brush and form various figures from the dough (snowflakes, Christmas trees, deer, Christmas balls, mittens, etc.) using special grooves or an ordinary knife. If you plan to decorate the Christmas tree with gingerbread, then you need to additionally make a hole for the ribbons using a cocktail tube.

Step 6

Grease the baking tray with butter, put the figurines prepared from the dough on it, pre-roll them in egg yolk, place in the oven and bake for 8-10 minutes.

Step 7

After the specified time has elapsed, remove the gingerbread cookies from the oven, let them cool down, and then decorate the New Year's treat with glaze or multi-colored sugar pencils.
