If you want to see redberry abroad, it is almost impossible, since it grows only on a certain island in Japan.
A shrub grows up to ten centimeters high, and has large leaves that are somewhat similar to birch leaves. An interesting fact is that these leaves are able to change their color. However, it depends on the season. At first, the leaves can be light green, and over time they can change their color to green. Redberry blooms in early June. One should only look at this beauty, because it is safe to say that you have never seen its white-pink flowers anywhere else.
From the end of July, redberries can be harvested. They can also be in August - it all depends on the weather. Berries can only be eaten when they have acquired a dark red color. Sometimes the redberry can resemble a cranberry. She is the same shape and color.
Red berries are also juicy and tasty, so they can be eaten fresh. The size of the berries depends on the climate in which the plant grows and what the weather is like there. Larger berries have been found to grow in areas where there is more swamp. But in sunny and open places, the berry will be much smaller, and not so juicy.
The largest redberry was found in Sakhalin. The weight of such a berry was about one gram, and on one bush there were about fifteen berries.
