Zucchini flowers can be kept frozen. And while new flowers appear in the beds, or while you buy the required number of them in the market or in the supermarket, it is better to freeze the gifts of flora you have.
It is necessary
- - squash flowers
- - food bags for freezing
- - paper towel or napkin
Instructions
Step 1
Collect the Male Zucchini Flowers. They have a thinner stem than female ones. But for pollination, it is necessary to leave one male flower for 3 female ones, so that later to collect zucchini. Flowers need to be plucked from the stalks, so that later it is convenient to hold them.
Step 2
Use scissors to remove the pistil, leaving an empty flower. The flower is always emptied before stuffing, but it is better to do this before freezing.
Step 3
Place a paper towel or napkin ball (absorbent paper) in the center of the flower to maintain the flower's shape after defrosting and not break it.
Step 4
Place the flower in a freezer bag. If you are freezing several flowers, then you need to take a larger bag so that they do not touch or stick together during freezing.
Step 5
Place the bag in the freezer on top so that no other food is lying on top of it, as frozen flowers are very fragile.
Step 6
The zucchini flower thaws for a few seconds. We must hurry. At the time of stuffing, take out one flower, remove the paper, put the stuffing inside the flower. And immediately take the second flower. The paper must be removed from the frozen flower.
Step 7
Use a cooking syringe or piping bag for quick and easy stuffing. To manipulate the flower, hold it by the stem, not the petals.
Step 8
If you do not want to stuff the zucchini flowers, but want to use them for omelets or donuts, then when freezing, you do not need to put the paper inside.
