In France, a lot of dishes are prepared using onions. In this case, it is used not as a seasoning, but as a main ingredient. It doesn't take long to make a pie with onions, and its taste will pleasantly surprise you.
Dough preparation
To prepare the dough, prepare sour cream, margarine, tea soda, vinegar (9%), flour. 100 grams of margarine must be melted in a steam bath. Then add 2 tablespoons of sour cream and 1/3 teaspoon of baking soda, after extinguishing it in vinegar. After that, gently stirring, slowly add one glass of flour. The quick onion pie dough is now ready. It should cool slightly, so it should be put into the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes.
Cooking the onion filling
1 kg of onions must be washed, peeled and cut into small half rings (0.5-0.7 cm thick). Next, pour 1 tablespoon of vegetable (sunflower) oil into a deep frying pan and simmer the onion half rings over medium heat for 10-15 minutes. Thus, they should become soft and transparent. Salt them a little.
Roll out a thin cake from the prepared dough, 1-1.5 cm thick. Grease a frying pan or a special baking dish with butter. Lay out the dough so that you can make the sides for the filling later. Smooth it out with your hands.
Place the onion filling on top of the dough. Mix 200 grams of sour cream well with 2 eggs using a mixer. Pour the onion filling with the mixture.
Preheat the oven to 200-220 degrees. Bake the onion pie for 20-30 minutes. Cool it before serving. The pie is served in portions to each guest, pre-decorated with fresh herbs.
As a filling, in addition to onions, you can use low-fat sausage, boiled meat or chicken breast, cut into small cubes. Spices and herbs such as oregano, caraway seeds, watercress or roasted sesame seeds will also add piquancy to the pie. Bon Appetit!
