It is necessary

  • - purified water
  • - molds or disposable ice bags
  • - towel and kitchen hammer (for ice frappe)
  • - juice, berries and pieces of fruit (for colored ice)

Instructions

Step 1

Essentially, ice is a form of water that it takes when exposed to freezing temperatures. Water from an ordinary water supply system contains many impurities, when it is frozen, rather cloudy ice is obtained, which is ugly in appearance and unpleasant to the taste. Therefore, following one of the main rules of bartenders, prepare ice only from pure water. You don't have to go to the store for distilled or bottled. You can use the usual one from the centralized supply system, subjecting it to cleaning in several stages.

Step 2

Pass the water through a filter with aqualene fibers and boil in a scale-free container. The ideal solution is to let this water settle. The impurities remaining in it will precipitate within a few hours. Pour the water gently into another bowl. Now you can make ice for cocktails from it.

Step 3

Use the very handy silicone ice cube trays to prepare the curly pieces. They are sold in a large assortment at hardware stores. The water for making ice in such forms should be at room temperature. An indispensable condition for making ice in open molds should be freezing it in a place separate from the food. Ice absorbs freezer odors very well, so place the molds in the designated area in the freezer. If you do not have a separate freezer space, use disposable ice-making bags that do not absorb odors.

Step 4

If the cocktail recipe involves the use of colored ice, prepare it with the addition of juices, mint leaves or berries. Freeze the berries and leaves inside a piece of ice in layers: pour one third of the liquid into the mold, let it freeze, then put mint leaves, pieces of fruit or berries and cover with the remaining liquid. Also prepare colored ice using freeze layers.

Step 5

Some cocktails require the use of fine ice crumbs - frappe. For its preparation in bars, ice is crushed in special crushers. You can cook at home without using special equipment. Place the frozen ice cubes on half a clean cotton towel and cover with the other half. Take a meat hammer and use the blunt side to break the ice cubes into a towel. Then pour the ice crumbs into a container, cover with a lid and place in the freezer. Place the crumbs in the glass just before making the cocktail.
