It is not customary to dilute beer with water now. If only because it is simply not profitable. Nevertheless, anything can happen in life. Therefore, you need to be able to distinguish high-quality beer. Moreover, it is not difficult at all. Sometimes you don't even need to taste it.

Good head is good beer

The very phrase "diluted beer" will lead to great bewilderment of any American or Western European. It is not customary for them to dilute this wonderful drink. They tasted it even without dilution with water. In addition, if such a blasphemy was discovered, the owner of the pub was expected not only by huge penalties, but also the worst thing - a bad reputation with all that it implies. And, most importantly, they have always been this way since time immemorial.

Diluted beer: background

It's another matter with us. In the USSR, draft beer consumers hardly knew the taste of undiluted beer. The absence of the “no beer” sign on the bar already delighted the visitors - there is beer! And what is it like there - the tenth question.

And in Soviet drinking establishments beer was always diluted. Sometimes it's just merciless. It is not for nothing that beer sellers with a salary of 100 rubles were considered very rich people. And it was almost impossible to get a job for this seemingly very low-prestige position without cronyism or a solid bribe.

Things are different now. The market has put everything in its place. There is plenty of beer for every taste and color. Here, at least undiluted somehow to sell. And modern bottling equipment prevents fraud. Still, it is necessary to know the difference between diluted and genuine beer.

Signs of a good beer

What is diluted beer? This is, first of all, low-quality beer. And the quality of beer depends on many factors. For example, beer with a lack of carbon dioxide is very similar to a product diluted with water. Insufficiently carbonated foamy drink tastes very watery.

Therefore, you just need to learn to distinguish quality beer from bad. And it is not so important what the reasons for the appearance of low-quality beer on sale are: it is spoiled at the factory or in the pub.

The most important purely external quality indicator of beer is beer foam. Its absence can be due to several reasons.

1. Supercooled beer.

2. Beer lacks carbon dioxide. It is either badly carbonated or ran out of steam.

3. The beer is diluted.

Excessive foam can also indicate its non-compliance with the norms. And the reasons are different.

1. The beer is overgassed.

2. The beer is warm.

3. Beer was poured into a glass illiterately.

The head of a good beer should be thick and 4-5 centimeters thick. It must be stable and maintain the initial level for at least 4 minutes. If the foam falls off faster, then this is a big disadvantage. In addition, as the beer container is emptied, the foam in a good drink always remains on the walls of the container.

And finally, taste. Unfortunately, not everyone can determine the quality of beer by taste. Therefore, if you do not belong to the number of beer gourmets, then the state of beer foam will be absolutely enough for you to judge the quality of the drink.

If you are one of the true connoisseurs of beer, then even with your eyes closed, you will be able to taste the quality of your favorite drink. You just need to remember: the optimal temperature of beer during consumption should be +8 +10 degrees Celsius. Otherwise, the taste will be distorted, and even a high-quality drink may seem disgusting.
