Pu-erh tea is special both in its taste and properties. In China, it is rightfully called "a medicine for a hundred diseases." When used correctly, it has a beneficial effect on the gastrointestinal tract, on the nervous system, gently tones, promotes the elimination of toxins. Black pu-erh tea is the only tea that can be drunk on an empty stomach.
Puerh green in China appeared not so long ago, has properties more similar to green tea. Drinking such pu-erh tea on an empty stomach is not recommended because of the possible irritating effects on the mucous membrane.
Black pu-erh, which penetrated the domestic tea markets several years ago, still causes the most controversial sentiments in relation to its taste. Its velvety consistency and earthy taste with notes of walnut or prunes either fall in love immediately, or pu-erh remains unrecognized for a while.
And yet, how to drink pu-erh correctly and with what? It is recommended to consume this unique drink in the morning, preferably in the morning before the start of the working day. It will become a worthy alternative to coffee. The first tea leaves must be drained, the subsequent ones must be brewed for a short time and drunk in small bowls. Typically good pu-erh varieties will "withstand" about ten brews.
Strongly brewed pu-erh is not very good to consume. Firstly, it loses its unique flavor and aftertaste, and secondly, taking it has adverse effects such as diarrhea, increased heart rate, agitation and insomnia.
Putting sugar in pu-erh is not recommended, so as not to lose the flavor. But its taste is perfectly emphasized by any dried fruits, nuts, especially hazelnuts, almonds, as well as dark or bitter chocolate. You can also add milk. Thanks to this, fat-soluble vitamins A and E will get into the infusion.
Puer, like any other Chinese tea, should be enjoyed in a calm and peaceful atmosphere with pleasant company, having a leisurely conversation - or alone, discovering new facets of its taste with every sip.
