Rice mushroom, Chinese, Japanese, sea - all these names mean the same microorganism. It belongs to a type of bacteria called zooglea. The most common types of zoogley, in addition to the rice mushroom, are the milk (kefir) Tibetan mushroom and kombucha.
How to grow a rice mushroom
Externally, the rice mushroom looks like grains of white-cream rice. And from its infusion, you can make a delicious carbonated drink that tastes like whey or kvass drink.
You can grow a rice mushroom in a glass jar, which must be placed in a dry, warm place where the rays of the sun do not penetrate, this can be, for example, an ordinary cabinet in the kitchen. For half a liter of unboiled water, you need a tablespoon of the mushroom. Pour in water containing two tablespoons of sugar (brown cane sugar is ideal). Next, you need to feed with a handful of raisins or dried apricots, you can use any other dried fruits to taste. The mushroom should be infused for two, and in the cold season - three days.
When the allotted time has passed, the infusion in which the bend grew must be drained. This should be done carefully, using a fine sieve or gauze, rinsing it in such a way that small grains cannot flow out along with the water. Dried fruits that were used in the process can be thrown away. The rice remaining on the gauze should be washed in cold water, then, after separating a tablespoon of the mushroom, pour it again with the same amount of water, adding dried apricots and raisins. To give the drink a better color and taste when infused, you can add fried black or white bread croutons to it.
The rice mushroom grows most actively at a temperature of twenty-three to twenty-seven degrees, and the higher its indicator, the more intensively it will multiply. If it is below seventeen degrees Celsius, the zooglea will die. The finished drink must be stored in a cold place, but not more than 4 days. Half a liter of the prepared infusion will be enough for one person per day.
Positive changes in the state of the body can be felt after three or four weeks of using the infusion of rice mushroom. To do this, it is enough to consume it three times a day 15-20 minutes before meals.
