Mushrooms are representatives of a special biological kingdom that are widely used both as food and medicine. There are about 100 species of edible mushrooms and several dozen of those that can cause serious harm to the body, up to and including death.
Most mushroom species have been carefully studied in laboratories. These forest dwellers surprised scientists with their uniqueness. An interesting fact is that in terms of mineral composition, mushrooms are closest to fruits, and in terms of a complex of carbohydrates - to vegetable products. In terms of protein saturation, they surpass any type of meat eaten by humans, therefore, for vegetarians they are an irreplaceable source of protein compounds.
Mushrooms are 90% water saturated with various useful substances: minerals, protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, trace elements. Therefore, they are a unique product - low in calories and at the same time satisfying, suitable for diabetics. During heat treatment, most of the beneficial compounds are destroyed, therefore, salted and pickled mushrooms are more useful, since their nutritional value is much higher.
The vitamin series, which is part of the mushrooms, has the most positive effect on the body: it soothes the nervous system, improves the processes of hematopoiesis, ensures the beauty and growth of hair and nails.
A variety of dishes can be prepared from mushrooms: soups, casseroles, baked goods, salads. It has been proven that regular consumption of this product contributes to the cure of such complex diseases as cancer. The presence of a large amount of vitamins of group A and vitamin PP in mushrooms provides an improvement in the appearance of the skin and the healing of their damage. The high content of zinc, copper and manganese contributes to the normalization of the endocrine system.
Eating mushrooms has a positive effect on the work of the heart and blood vessels, since the substances they contain contribute to the elimination of cholesterol.
But the benefits of mushrooms will be felt if they are properly stored, processed and prepared for consumption. One of the easiest ways to prepare this useful product for future use is drying. It can be both natural and artificial (performed in special dryers). Fresh mushrooms will spoil rather quickly if measures are not taken to store them further.
In order for them to keep their freshness for 3-4 days, they are placed in an enamel container and placed in the refrigerator.
For all its advantages, mushrooms have a disadvantage: they are difficult for the human body to digest. The reason for this is the presence of chitin in them, a substance that not only slows down the processes of digestion, but is absolutely indigestible. Therefore, it is not recommended for babies to give food that contains this product.
Currently, due to the difficult ecological situation on the entire planet, even edible mushrooms can cause significant harm to health. This is due to the fact that they are capable of absorbing toxins and radioactive compounds with surprising speed. Therefore, even a small mushroom can cause serious poisoning.
Today, a product grown in artificial conditions is safer. Among such mushrooms are oyster mushrooms, champignons, etc. Some types of mushrooms are extremely poisonous. As food, they are dangerous not only for humans, but also for animals.
