The aging period determines a lot

Blue agave juice is used as the main ingredient for the production of tequila. When choosing this drink, you should pay attention to the aging period and the percentage of agave juice. The most valuable drink is considered to be aged in oak barrels.

Depending on the age, tequila can be divided into five types. Exposure from one to three years is considered more preferable. Tequila aged one and three years is completely different in taste.

Blanca, plata cultivar. This tequila is bottled immediately after production. This variety is considered the most popular. The taste of the drink is quite simple, there is an earthy aftertaste, alcohol is felt. It is usually used for making cocktails.

Gold is a type of tequila with a golden hue, due to the presence of caramel in the composition.

Reposado variety - tequila aged for at least a year. The most "aged" is Anejo tequila - aging up to three years. During this time, all alcohols evaporate. The aroma of the drink becomes more refined, closer to chocolate-vanilla.

Choosing tequila by sugar content

Which tequila is better is a moot point. Today it is made in different variations. The quality of the drink depends on the composition. By carefully reading the label, you can determine whether sugar was added in the manufacture of tequila or only agave juice was used.

The first group is tequila, which contains exclusively the juice of this noble plant.

The second group, mixta, consists of mixed sugars. The composition also contains blue agave juice, but only 51%. According to the established requirements - the remaining 49% can be any kind of sugar. Therefore, the recipe may vary significantly from manufacturer to manufacturer.

Every lover of this noble drink should know how to choose a good tequila. The first thing to do is take a close look at the bottle. If the label says "100% Blue Agave", then this is an exceptional drink, consisting only of blue agave juice, without any impurities in the composition. The “DO” mark on the bottle indicates that the beverage is produced in accordance with geographic production standards. The abbreviation "CRT" means that the Consejo regulator del Tequila controlled the production of the beverage. This product is of excellent quality, like all drinks produced under the supervision of this organization. The “NOM” label confirms that the drink meets the Mexican quality standards.

Sometimes a little sediment can be seen at the bottom of the bottle. It forms if the bottle has been stored for a long time at low temperatures. The sediment also indicates the passage of the filtration process during the production of tequila.
