Large freezers have changed the way we think about mushroom storage for the winter. If earlier our ancestors dried and pickled these gifts of nature, now more and more housewives resort to freezing. Many people think that mushrooms need to be boiled before this. Why is this done?
Instructions
Step 1
During boiling, the mushrooms are ready to eat. This automatically means that they can be cooked immediately after defrosting. The gain in time is obvious. We spend 30-40 minutes on the whole batch in the fall. And in winter we will use mushrooms in portions, but we do not waste time on boiling them.
Thus, the first reason why mushrooms are boiled before freezing is to save time on subsequent cooking.
Step 2
The second reason is a significant change in size of the mushrooms after boiling. The next batch takes up less space in the refrigerator, which means that you can prepare more.
Step 3
Not all mushrooms have broth that can be used for cooking. This does not apply to the traditional undoubtedly edible white, boletus and brown boletus. But many russula and other conditionally edible mushrooms give a rather bitter broth, which you still have to pour out. So the third reason is the elimination of bitter and harmful substances from the mushrooms before freezing. At the same time, caterpillars are also killed, which are easy to view when cleaning large quantities of mushrooms for freezing.
