The most ripe, delicious and fragrant pineapples that come to us were already ripe removed from the bush. But a long journey is destructive for them. To prevent ripe pineapple from spoiling on the way, it has to be delivered by plane, which invariably affects the price of the product not for the better.

Distinguishing a ripe pineapple from its unripe cousin is easy. In this case, do not try to focus on the color of the fruit. Green pineapple may well be ripe, but if dark spots are scattered on its surface, it is better not to take such a fruit. This means that the fruit is already overripe and has begun to deteriorate.

Step 3

Smell the pineapple, if it is ripe, then you will feel a characteristic pleasant smell. If it does not smell of anything, then there is nothing left but to allow the pineapple to ripen at home.

Step 4

Wrap the pineapple in several layers of newsprint and store in a warm place. Try after two days to pull one of the leaves out of its crown, if the leaves are well separated, the pineapple is ripe. If not, then let it lie down for another 2-3 days.

Step 5

By the way, apples and bananas, during storage, release substances that accelerate the ripening of other fruits, fruits before wrapping it in a newspaper. But if you do, check the newspaper more often, at least once a day, so as not to miss the ripening moment. Overripe pineapple is of little use for food, it is better not to bring it to this state.
