The cost of unripe fruit is usually lower. Buying them a little green, you can save a lot, but that's not even the point. Unripe fruits can be taken for future use - they are stored much longer. Green fruits are less damaged during transportation, therefore they are stored longer. Exotic fruits such as mango draw particular attention, although in reality the ripening process is no different from ordinary tomatoes.
Instructions
Step 1
Wrap the fruits (you do not need to wash) in soft paper, food grade or one that is placed under baking is suitable. Do not wrap in foil, as it will damage the skin of the fruit. If you don't have soft paper, you can skip the wrapping. The fruit will ripen anyway.
Step 2
Place the mango on a windowsill or in a regular fruit bowl. Keep at room temperature until fully ripe. Usually, the fruit ripens already for 2-3 days, but it may take a little more time.
Step 3
You should not be guided by the change in the color of the mango. At room temperature and low light, they may not be red, but yellowish or orange. Press down on the pulp, if it becomes soft, the fruit is ripe and can be eaten.
