Fasting is a physical and spiritual cleansing. During the fast, you should give up animal products, preferring plant foods. Fasting is a serious test for the body, so it cannot be adhered to for certain diseases.

Step 1
Refuse during the fast of eggs, meat, dairy products, pastry, sweets, alcoholic beverages. During Great Lent, red wine and vegetable oil can be consumed on Saturdays and Sundays, with the exception of Saturday during Holy Week. Vegetable oil can also be used on the days of commemoration of the saints. Fish can be eaten on Annunciation and on the last Sunday before Easter, fish caviar on Saturday before Palm Sunday. In the first two days of Lent, it is advisable to give up food altogether. In the last week of fasting, they eat dry food, that is, one that has not been heat-treated.
Step 2
Eat cereals, salted, pickled and fresh vegetables, black and gray bread, juices, jelly, jams, mushrooms, herbs. When preparing lean dishes, do not forget about spices, they will make the food tastier and more aromatic.
Step 3
Show your culinary imagination. If you think that lean food is boring and monotonous, you are wrong, because you can come up with various delicious dishes - salads, sauces, casseroles. Lean porridge can be served with a sauce made from berries, mushrooms or vegetables. Soups based on mushroom or vegetable broth, with the addition of spices, are no worse than meat soups. Vegetables can be stewed, baked, stuffed with mushrooms and onions.
Step 4
Make a menu while fasting with an important rule. Protein, carbohydrates and fats must be supplied to the body daily and in sufficient quantities. When you receive the elements necessary for normal life, you will not feel tired by fasting. Beans, peas, soybeans, oats, nuts, and mushrooms will serve as an excellent source of protein.
Step 5
Try to enjoy your meal, do not get annoyed while eating, the meal should take place in a calm atmosphere. This rule must be adhered to, of course, not only during fasting, but also on ordinary days.
