Shawarma or donar kebab is an oriental dish. Simple and quick to prepare, it has long become a popular fast food, the dangers of which are talked about a lot. But if you make shawarma at home: use dietary meat, fresh vegetables, herbs and reduce the amount of fat, then it becomes not only tasty, but also a healthy dish.

- For homemade shawarma:
- several sheets of pita bread;
- 300-400 g of pork or other meat;
- 2-3 fresh cucumbers;
- 1-2 tomatoes;
- 100-200 g of white cabbage;
- 200 g of Korean carrots;
- a small bunch of green onions and dill;
- vegetable oil;
- salt and ground pepper.
- For the garlic sauce:
- 4 tbsp. l. kefir;
- 4 tbsp. l. sour cream;
- 4 tbsp. l. ketchup;
- 1 large head of garlic;
- ground red pepper;
- ground black pepper;
- curry
- coriander;
- dried herbs (dill
- cilantro
- parsley).
Instructions
Step 1
Rinse well under running water and dry vegetables and herbs. Cut the cucumbers into thin strips and the tomatoes into cubes. Stir the vegetables in a bowl and season with salt and pepper.
Step 2
Chop the cabbage as thin as possible. Sprinkle lightly with salt and rub with your hands to make the cabbage juice.
Step 3
Wash and dry the meat. Then cut it across the grain into small pieces or "noodles" no thicker than 10 mm. Pour some oil into a frying pan, put on high heat and heat. Fry the meat in it for three to four minutes. As soon as it changes color and crusts, set aside the pan.
Step 4
Garlic sauce gives a special zest to shawarma. To prepare it, mix kefir with sour cream and ketchup. Peel the cloves, pass them through a press and add to the mixture. Add the rest of the ingredients (pepper, spices, dried herbs) and mix everything thoroughly. Let the sauce sit for an hour, after which it will be ready to eat.
Step 5
Spread the pita bread, brush it with garlic sauce, put some cucumbers with tomatoes and cabbage with Korean carrots closer to one edge. Sprinkle vegetables with herbs. Then lay out the meat, pour over the sauce and mix the filling slightly.
Step 6
Roll the pita bread into a roll, bending one end. This is done to prevent the filling from falling out. Put the shawarma on a flat plate and send it literally for forty to sixty seconds in the microwave, or for three to four minutes in an oven preheated to 200 degrees.

Also, for homemade shawarma, you can use a special cake (pita) or, after mixing the filling, put it on plates and serve with bread.
